Memorial Day Weekend 2010

Last summer, my son Nicholas had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. with his Grandparents, & I got to tag-a-long.
A most memorable moment was our trip to The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetary...there we saw sacrifice, which is not a popular word because it comes at a cost. It reminded us to be thankful for the sacrifice of so many that came before us & of so many today...thankful for their generous gift of service & denial of self. I pray God's richest blessings on all....& I am thankful for freedom...freedom. God bless America.

The Hydrangeas are Blooming!
I love it when the first signs of summer arrive.....
it's that time...the garden's been planted..yesterday, I saw the first tassels appearing on the corn, the tomato bushes are loaded, the squash are in full bloom with big yellow blossoms, and my hydrangeas are displaying their beautiful fruits...in blues, pinks & lavenders..........

What is it about the Douglas Fir that reminds me of Christmas? Living in a house full of men is never without adventure...our yearly hunt for the family Christmas tree will
commence this weekend...Against all odds...after the annual sizing up of the trees and the final verbal Christmas tree call ("Just pick one!")...the Young family Christmas tree will be loaded in the back of the truck like a prized buck....
